4-Day Kruger NP Budget Camp

We need to get going early so that we can do a last short game drive. Afterwards, we'll go back to Johannesburg. We will be reaching OR Tambo Airport between 4:30 pm and 5:30 pm.

Satara is well known as Cat Central and it is here that we will go in search of lion, leopard and cheetah on our morning game drives. The S100 route to Nwanetsi Viewpoint and Sweni Hide runs hot and cold with game. We have seen two sets of lions and a pair of cheetah along this route in the space of a few kilometres. There is also a white lion in a pride of 18 that frequent this area. The Sweni River road is also always productive for game viewing. We often see lions, rhinos and elephants along this route. In the afternoon, we'll make our way North to Olifants Rest Camp with the most spectacular views over the Olifants River. We will overnight in Balule a delightful rustic bush camp. Tonight you will have your guided night drive on an open side vehicle. Satara is also thee place in the park to do a night drive or if you want, you can book an early morning bush walk with professional trails guides. We recently had three male lions bring down a buffalo not 30 metres from the camp fence.

You'll be collected from the airport. At 7:00 am, depart OR Tambo for Kruger National Park Malelane Gate, a 5-hour travel time. We'll have lunch at Malelane Gate before making our way North West on our first game drive to either Pretoriuskop or Berg-en-Dal Rest Camps where we will overnight. The game density in this area of the Park is high and this is where we are most likely to find rhinos (there is a Rhino Museum in Pretoriuskop Rest Camp) as well as various plains game. Impala, zebra, giraffe and kudu abound. All of the Big Five occur in this area of the park—elephant, buffalo, rhino, lion and leopard. The Matjulu Waterhole near Berg-en-Dal is always a game hotspot. We will have dinner al fresco style in camp.
